CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Robert Ritzler is an experienced attorney that has handled some of the most complex and serious cases in Erie County. The Sandusky Municipal Court is one of the busiest one-judge court houses in Ohio, and his years working at the Erie County Public Defender's Office handling thousands of cases have prepared him to handle high case-loads with accuracy and efficiency.
Robert is the son of a union laborer and a homemaker, who later went back to college and worked in IT. He graduated from Capitol University Law School in 2010 and has worked in both government offices and private law firms, handling criminal, civil, and domestic matters. He was married to his wife, Katelyn Ritzler, in the Sandusky Municipal Court 10 years ago. They live in Sandusky where they raise their three young sons, Howard, Jack, and Lee.
Robert wants to help create a safe and just environment for all of Sandusky.
PLATFORM FOCUS
Robert Ritzler's platform aims to continue the legacy of the last thirty years by Judge Erich O'Brien, as well as bring the court into a new era.
His goals are to:

· Embrace technology to increase access to the court, better track the progress of cases, and increase transparency to the public;
​
· Create the first Veteran's Court in Erie County, as Sandusky is home to one of the largest Veteran's care facilities in the state and we owe it to our veterans to bring in best practice standards when dealing with this population;
​
· Increase the number of cases heard per week for faster resolution of cases and reduced waiting time for individuals before the court.
